During OBX rehearsal week, we found a place called Donutz on a Stick. We learned that if you put two donuts on a stick, you can eat two donuts at once and people don't judge you for it because it's whimsical. Also you can get ice cream. Still counts as one dessert.

Bonus pic at the end: Nat backed into a parking space successfully, and this groups believes in celebrating the accomplishments of its members. Congratulations Nat!!

During our time in New Orleans we will be having performance’s at the University of New Orleans Recital Hall as well as The Rink Uptown. More info to come soon!

This week we started our “quintet week” retreat where we are preparing our 2023-24 program. After a long summer of deciding our rep we’re excited to finally get started in a week filled with intensive rehearsals, excessive donuts, and exhausted beach trips🔥🫡

IGNIS SUMMERS: What are they up to?? Pt.2

Christian and Kyle just got back from an incredible two weeks at the @mainechambermusicseminar
Last year we had such an incredible time as the ensemble-in-residence that we decided to return another summer later even without the entire quintet! We weren’t disappointed as we were able to play such incredible rep with equally incredible musicians and inspiring faculty members. Another summer that we won’t forget, we can’t speak highly enough of the close-knit musical community and collaborative atmosphere that the festival creates. One of our absolute favorite musical experiences that we can’t wait to be a part of again. Bravo to everyone on their incredible performances!! More pics to come!!

IGNIS ~in the wild~ summer 2023 volume 1: while Kyle and Christian were living it up at the @mainechambermusicseminar (post coming soon 😉) Nathaniel spent the first few weeks of his summer having a lovely time at the @sarasotamusicfestival. He collaborated with wonderful colleagues on works by Previn and Ibert and enjoyed Florida weather more than he thought he would. He also doesn’t know whether he should write this post in first or third person. 🤷‍♂️

CW: sincerity, first person singular

Last night as we returned to College Park, Maryland I couldn’t fathom how lucky and privileged I felt to have participated in the @fischoffchambermusic. I feel dumbfounded that IGNIS is coming home as a bronze medaling ensemble, but moreover I feel grateful that Fischoff provided us and every other competing ensemble the framework to push ourselves to attempt performances with intense commitment, generosity and musical vulnerability. We’re so grateful to the Fischoff organization for letting us compete and for being one of the kindest, most generous arts organizations we’ve had the pleasure of working with.

Special congratulations to the PHENOMENAL @kodachromequartet 💜and Cerus Quartet 💙💛, but also to every ensemble we had the joy of listening to as audience members. I’ll speak for the whole quintet in saying one of the highlights of the weekend was watching the stunning musicianship of other groups across every division. Also everyone we talked to was really nice and we should all get pizza sometime. 🥹
