A peek into our incredible time in New Orleans! The food, the BEIGNETS(‼️), and the many photo shoots of Lisa took us all outside of our practice rooms where we got to explore the incredible city after our performances.

Not pictured: 10 hours of rehearsal, stopping at both McDonald’s and Taco Bell for dinner one night, morning coffee runs, and somehow the entire Christmas parade where Nathaniel caught a literal 10 pound bag of beads #sporty

We can’t thank everyone enough over at @nolachamberfest @lyricabaroque @unosota @neworleansfom and @therinknola for providing this incredible opportunity. We absolutely LOVED our time there and are so thankful for everything they’ve done setting this up!

WHOA!!

We are all so proud of Kyle after finishing his performance of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto last night with the UMD University Orchestra. Kyle won this opportunity along with a prize after placing second in the UMD Concerto Competition last year. Way to go!!! #quintetpride

Finally back home but still have so many warm feelings (and photos!!) of our NoLa performances;

One of our most fun performances of the week was our kids concert at @therinknola. There we performed a variety of pieces in-costume as all of the quintet members helped Kyle find the ⭐️meaning⭐️ of the holidays🎄 Whether it’s about spending time with family🏡going on vacation🏖️or (in Nathaniel’s case) just about getting gifts🎁❗️ we wish everyone a great holiday season!⭐️🎄⭐️🎄

We were so excited to share our music and meet everyone at both of our performances! It’s been such a pleasure performing in such a welcoming community and we were SO excited to be able to be a part of the @unosota Musical Excursions Series.

We officially kick off our residency with @unosota at 7:30PM central time. We are SO excited to share incredible works by Ligeti, Seeger, Say, Del Aguila, and Coleman. Huge thank to everyone at @nolachamberfest and @neworleansfom for making this all possible!

How could we let anyone forget our upcoming residency at @unosota! Our concert on the 30th will include works by Seeger, Ligeti, Del Aguila, Coleman, and Fazil Say.

Our SECOND concert hosted by @therinknola on December 1st will feature a colorful mix of genres and just a little⭐️🤏 holiday shenanigans not limited to works by Arnold, Coleman, Ravel, and Mozart.

MEMBER MOMENT

This week, Christian just finished a very WARM and TROPICAL concert filled with Florida weather, earplugs, and a symphonic hammer performing Mahler’s 6th Symphony with the @nwsymphony. He had a great time performing alongside MCMS alum/friend of the quintet/NWS fellow @katebruns88 as she played principal for a literal 90 minute symphony!!

This past month, Molly and Christian had multiple performances with the Harrisburg Symphony and Pops Orchestra playing Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring and some New Orleans jazz. They had a great time dancing along to great trumpet solos and their (literal) lives! (separate occasions)

IG-NIS WEEK!! IG-NIS WEEK!! We’re back and getting ready for our lunchtime recital at the Washington Arts Club this Friday and what better way to prepare then to receive a coaching from UMD faculty member and @windsync oboist Emily Tsai?! We were so thankful to work with an OG alum of the UMD quintet fellowship!

During OBX rehearsal week, we found a place called

During OBX rehearsal week, we found a place called Donutz on a Stick. We learned that if you put two donuts on a stick, you can eat two donuts at once and people don't judge you for it because it's whimsical. Also you can get ice cream. Still counts as one dessert.

Bonus pic at the end: Nat backed into a parking space successfully, and this groups believes in celebrating the accomplishments of its members. Congratulations Nat!!

IGNIS SUMMERS: What are they up to?? Pt.2

Christian and Kyle just got back from an incredible two weeks at the @mainechambermusicseminar
Last year we had such an incredible time as the ensemble-in-residence that we decided to return another summer later even without the entire quintet! We weren’t disappointed as we were able to play such incredible rep with equally incredible musicians and inspiring faculty members. Another summer that we won’t forget, we can’t speak highly enough of the close-knit musical community and collaborative atmosphere that the festival creates. One of our absolute favorite musical experiences that we can’t wait to be a part of again. Bravo to everyone on their incredible performances!! More pics to come!!
